Not a Recipe but a “Kitchen Tip”.
I have been hearing lately about people paying money for salad spinners. I think I would like it, don’t get me wrong. But I don’t have room for anymore STUFF.
This is the way I keep lettuce. (First: I bought some “flour sacks” from Sam’s…you get 12 for a small price.)
- Take out of bag (KEEP bag).
- Rinse and let drain in a colander.
- I double the towel and then lay the lettuce on it.
- Roll it up and shake it around.
- Put the lettuce with the towel still around it, back into the bag.
- The next day, you can pat/shake and the lettuce ought to be dry.
- Take the towel out and close the bag.
It will stay fresh for a week or more. (You can use paper toweles, but I’m trying to limit my paper products).
