I know, I know, SMOOTHIES on the coldest day of the season?? Well, we like smoothies around here and I keep them in the freezer.
Here is how I make them: All these measurements are just guessing…I make a blender full and it usually makes about 4-5 of these frozen cups I got at Wally World…I think they are “ball” brand. I got them in the canning and freezing stuff.
You can put in any of the following in any combination.
- Any kind of frozen fruit…I used the “mixed” with peaches, strawberries, pineapple and add a “berry” mixture, Blackberries, blueberries and raspberries…they do have alot of seeds, so if you don’t like that, just use the Mixed stuff.
- Vanilla Yogurt…Kosher of course
- Any fresh fruit that you may have an abundance of or that may be getting a little old….grapes, strawberries, banana’s
- -or– fruit juice
- Flax seed (it’s really good to fight cholesterol!)
- Honey
- EVEN spinach! (Kids don’t even know it’s there!)
I usually take my frozen fruit out of the freezer about 10-20 minutes before I start. I put liquid and yogurt on the bottom of the blender.
Add about 1 cup fresh fruit or juice and 2 cups (?) yogurt and 2 cups (?) frozen fruit into your blender. I do set the frozen fruit out for a little while so it will blend and little easier. But you just have to stir and blen until all the stuff is blended…if you like pieces of fruit, don’t blend until smooth.
Put them into the freezer. My guys microwave for about 30-40 seconds before eating them.
Here are some pics that may help you….Enjoy!
