I just read some of my old Homeschool Posts and thought I would update some of it.
We have been going to the HS Extension classes since August and I really like it. LM says he doesn’t but I really think that is only because he has to get up early one day a week. Oh yeah, and he has to do school stuff. He’s enrolled in a Drama class, an Art class and a botany class. It’s not like he has a lot to do. I have really enjoyed it, it’s a great Christian atmosphere, the people are very nice. The kids are very polite and I come away feeling really good at the end of the day.
LM is doing well with other subjects this year. He says he doesn’t like any of it, but he does a good job. I think he gets the “I don’t like School” attitude from TV. That’s how he thinks he’s supposed to act. Of course, there are no kids shows (or others for that matter) about kids that are homeschooled. I wish there was…or a book about other homeschoolers and how much they like it….appreciate it. I wish he could follow in a public school child’s life for 1 day. Getting up early, waiting on the bus in the dark, cold, rain. Being at school @ 8:00–eating lunch in a cafeteria (he’s very picky), not getting home until 4:00. Having to ride a bus. And then the homework after he got home….I try to tell him this, but it just doesn’t sink in.
I love homeschooling, I like knowing where my son is, who he is around and being the number 1 influence in his life.
I am so blessed and I try to thank Yahweh every day. Not only for homeschooling, but that my husband is agreeable…(actually, it was his decision in the first place. Since I met him, this was the plan) he doesn’t mind us going on field trips and traveling 40 miles to a HS Ext once a week. He is so good about me needing to spend money on books, curriculum. LM has a PE class once a week and because we are so busy other days, Dear Husband often goes to the grocery store so I don’t have to after the PE class.
I have heard a saying about “my husband working so he could afford his wife & kids lifestyle”….If you know what I am trying to say…please tell me. I’d like to get it accurate.
If you homeschool…give me a shout and let me know what you like/dislike about it. If you want to and have questions, I’d be GLAD to help if I can. If you have GOOD stuff to say about Public school, tell me. I certainly don’t mean to say anything negative about it, this is just my experience. I know there are great teachers and great kids that come out of it!! I’M SURE YOURS IS ONE OF THEM!!

I love homeschooling. We have graduated 2 and next year our 3rd will graduate. YES, it takes time but no one else I know deserves my time more! I will never regret the time I have spent with my kids. It is priceless and I am glad it was spent on them.
There are good public schools. My girls go to one of them! We graduated from PC so we know the close atmosphere, the camaraderie that forms going from K – 12 with a group of kids, and the awesome parental involvement this school has. The teachers genuinely love all the kids and want them to do well. PC is one of the top schools in Arkansas so it’s not just me being biased. I admire those who can home school, I just know I’m not disciplined or patient enough to do it. Public school works for us, just like home school works for others. To each their own, you have to do what’s right for YOUR child.
Very well said, Jonna! I agree!! I know PC is a great school…I can see it in you, your sisters and your husband….and of course your beautiful children!!
