Before I forget, I have one more praise for Discovery Cove. I bought a t-shirt that has lettering down the side. When I got it home and looked at it, I realized it had been folded up on the bottom at the time of printing and part of the print was on the underside of the shirt. I called Discovery Cove to ask if I could exchange it and they sent me another free of charge…and didn’t make me return the defective one!
Sea World was the next day. We have been to the one in San Antonio, Texas and loved it. I guess that’s why we wanted to go to the Orlando one, too. When we went to San Antonio, TX the “Shamu” show was “Believe”. It has been running for years. Well, on April 22 they started the new show, “One Ocean”. So, we scheduled the trip just in time! It was beautiful, doesn’t seem to be long enough, but I really like seeing how they train those whales! It is just amazing.
Thursday we went to Busch Gardens. We had to catch a bus from Sea World in Orlando to Busch Gardens. It’s like a “chartered bus”. It is about and hour ride. Not too bad. This is where Caleb lost his camera…the second time.
On the website and commercials it shows a lot of animal interaction. We didn’t see much of that, but we did have a good time. LM rode several rides, I rode one which I thought was “just a log ride”. Well, once you get inside, in the DARK it turns into a bit of a roller coaster…I HATE ROLLER COASTERS!! But I survived. It wasn’t long. LM thought it was very funny. I keep accusing him and he tells me he didn’t know!! I did do the water rapids and the log ride. We enjoyed seeing all the animals. I just wish the Polar Bear had been awake and up and about. The orangutan was sitting in a perch high above and you could hardly see him. The white tigers were walking around but not very close. The same as it is when you go to the zoo sometimes.
This night, I remembered after I had almost fallen asleep that Caleb needed to charge his camera. I started looking for it. He was asleep and I couldn’t find it. Needless it say, it took me awhile to go sleep. Well, to make a long story short, we finally remembered it was in the overhead compartment on the bus…the bus driver found it and they are UPS-ing it to me…for the low price of $22.00! I AM being cynical..I think they are taking advantage of me…it’s UPS, NOT the transportation co.) Hopefully all of his pictures will be safe. This is the same camera that he lost at my sister’s house. She found it a week or so later in the love seat.
The next day was kind of misty, the concierge said that Aquatica was going to close about 1:00 because of thunderstorms so we went to Wonderworks Museum. It was fun. This is the first time I played Laser Tag. Another boy and his mom played with us. I lost big time, Caleb had the highest score…his was about 2000 more than mine!
About 2:15, I called Aquatica, they NEVER closed for the weather, so we headed over there and had 2 hours of fun water slides. Since we didn’t have a waterproof camera, we don’t have many pics of it. But there will be a few after we got dry again. The Commersons Dolphins were beautiful. Caleb might have done all but 2 of the slides. I did 3 or 4. The lazy river was fun, too.
We had to be up about 5:00 the next morning to wait on our ride to the airport so I told Caleb he couldn’t swim past 8:00. We had pizza beside the pool. About 7:30 he met another boy and the hit it off. They were plating catch with a ball and racing in the pool, talking. Well, at 8:30, I HAD to break it up. I hated doing it, this is the first kid he had really made contact with the whole time we were there. I got to meet his mom and found out they had been at the hotel since Monday also. I can’t believe we hadn’t met them sooner! We got their email address, maybe they can be pen pals. They were from New Hampshire. Hi Liev and Jen!!
The next morning we called to get help with luggage and the man came in, the door automatically closes. When he went back to open it, it was STUCK…an envelope was put on the doorknob during the night and got caught in the door. We have to meet our ride in 10 minutes!! He finally called someone to come kick the door open. I’m sure the neighbors liked that at 5:45 AM!!
The Airplane ride home was good, we sat next to a real nice lady to Kansas City and then we had no one sitting by us from KS City to OKC.
We are glad to be home! I think DH was kind of glad to see us, too!!
One of my friends said that usually when she gets all worked up and excited for something like this, it usually turns out to be a bit of a disappointment, I know what she means.
NOT THIS TIME! IT was MORE than I had dreamed, and I had dreamed BIG TIME!
